Southern Wax Myrtle

Wax Myrtle, 'Myrica cerifera' - Also known as "Southern Bayberry" and "Southern Wax Myrtle". The Wax Myrtle is a large evergreen shrub or small tree native to the southeastern United States. It produces grayish white fruit coated with a wax used in candle making. The berries ripen in early fall and cling most of the winter. Typically used as a privacy hedge or ornamental.
